A shelf of children’s books to nurture minds, ignite dreams, and build futures.
Every year on or around April 2nd, Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, the world celebrates International Children’s Book Day. Since 1967, this day has served as a global reminder of the power of children’s literature to inspire, teach, and connect us.
The celebration is led annually by a different country through the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). Each year features a special theme, a message for young readers, and a poster created by a local illustrator. Libraries, schools, and literary groups worldwide participate in events that highlight the stories that shape childhood.
Today is a perfect opportunity to pick up a children's book, whether it influenced your childhood or one that resonates with you today. The magic of stories remains impactful at any age. Remember, readers make writers!
